What our clients say about working with us

My teenage son was playing volleyball almost year round. He developed chronic knee pain in both knees that required surgery. Dr. Matt Longfellow and the team at Athletes Potential worked with us to develop a plan to get him through recovery and build him back to competitive play. Dr. Matt even worked with our strengths coach on a lifting plan to supplement the PT. My son had almost given up on being able to play volleyball, but with a lot of hard work and the support of Dr. Matt, he is back at the net. He has regained explosiveness and, most importantly, he is playing pain free! We would highly recommend the team at Athletes Potential!

I struggled with low back pain after an injury for over a year. My husband, a home health PT, hand selected a physical therapy practice for me because he didn’t want me going to a generic chain outpatient clinic. He made the perfect choice. I worked with Dr. Matt for about 5 months. He was always professional, listened to my concerns each session and he started at my level. I learned to stop being afraid of my back pain and became equipped with movements and workout routines that made me feel stronger and have more low pain or pain free days. Now, even after I’ve been done with sessions for a while, I’m able to keep my back in a good place, or get it it back to pain-free by keeping up with my routines. I highly recommend Dr. Matt to anyone struggling with back pain!

After years of running and ignoring increasing knee pain following longer runs, a half marathon in October had me barely able to use the steps, run, or walk around the neighborhood. The team took the time to learn about my goals, build strength and regain range of motion for running, yoga, and biking. Through sessions I learned how to implement the exercises on my own correctly and maintain a solid program going forward. I was recently able to complete a multi-day team endurance run without any pain during the runs, across different surfaces (road & trail), and most of all no knee pain the next day!

Professional, knowledgeable, respectful, and caring. Theo helped me overcome pain from previous injuries in my hip, back and knee with needling and strength/stability training. The sessions provided are tailored to my specific needs/issues based on weekly/monthly progress. I appreciate that as I gained progress to alleviate pain in a specific area, we then focused on other areas may have been affected by the injuries. This training has helped me feel more comfortable with my leisure hiking, strength training classes, and everyday life.

Well, this review is long overdue, but here we go! I've experienced lower back pain for years. I was looking for a place which focused on keeping you active while going through physical therapy. I found Dr. Matt! He quickly identified the cause, developed a program specific to me, and provided guidance on how to work around my injury. Definitely no cookie cutter, generic programs here. I eventually joined the Clinical Strength Training program offered. I had a lot of fun working with Dr. Dom, Dr. Theo, and the morning class! I definitely feel stronger, have more confidence, and am more knowledgeable on working through flare ups. I can definitely say that I'm now pain free the majority of the time. I highly recommend investing in yourself and giving Athletes' Potential a shot!

After a couple years of thinking “oh it’s just a muscle issue in my back, I’ll stretch and mobilize” I finally took advice that was given to me and saw a PT. Matt came highly recommend to me by a former patient of his and I can say for a fact that he met all the hype. He took the time to do a proper assessment and narrow down to what was causing the main issue and any secondary issues. He took into account what physically activity I already do(weightlifting, endurance training, hiking) and my job(firefighter). He understood that I wanted to keep up my active lifestyle and built a plan around that instead of just saying I have to stop doing one or all of the things. More importantly, he understood the physical demands of my job and the need to get back to healthy without relying on surgery in the future that may take me from the job. He built a plan for me that was not rushed and when I was making marked improvements he did not just send me on my way like you would get from a PT that a hospital or surgeon would send you to. We adjusted the plan and kept making improvements. I haven’t felt this good in almost three years. He listens to what you have to say when it comes to how you’re feeling, any changes that may have happened since the last appointment, and any movements that I have been able to get back to with no issues or worry. I can’t recommend him enough and definitely worth the money and peace of mind.

Dr. Matt Longfellow and his team at Athletes' Potential did an incredible job with assisting me through a very tough time. I went to see Dr. Matt in March with a herniated disk and sciatica. The pain was unbearable and I could hardly walk. We proceeded with a three-month treatment plan. Dr. Matt was patient, caring, compassionate and very intelligent (state of the art exercises and movements). I can say today that I am 100% pain free and also stronger through the PT plan that he designed for me. Additionally, he was always available with a question via text messages, and he would send me a daily report via email. It was an incredible experience, and I highly recommend Dr. Matt and his team if you ever require PT assistance.

I have worked construction for 27 years, skateboarded until I was 42 and have been rock climbing for 10 years. The physical abuse from all of these activities trashed my lower back and hips and I had become very stiff with chronic pain. I started working Dr. Theo Hu at Athletes Potential and I have had great results. Over the past several months I have regained flexibility and strength in my legs, hips and back and much of my chronic pain is gone. Dr. Hu has customized my therapy to both help with lifting material and climbing ladders at work and with rock climbing, which is something I do several times a week. Since I started physical therapy at Athletes Potential I have been able to utilize my lower body at the gym and have progressed my climbing at least a grade. At 51 years old it’s great to be able to keep progressing at one my favorite activities. I highly recommend Dr. Theo Hu and Athletes Potential!

I cannot say enough great things about Dr Theo and Athlete’s Potential!! After dealing with pain for years and not being able to run, jump, or even walk without pain, I’m now back to mobility and feeling better than ever. The staff cares about their patients and builds custom plans catered to you. They don’t rush your healing and truly take the time to understand the root cause, focused on getting back to movement. The regular check-ins through the Coach RX app is so helpful to stay in tune with my PT while in between sessions. Being able to move pain free has been the best feeling after a grade 3 Achilles tear!! Couldn’t recommend this place and Dr Theo enough!

I met Theo at a screening he was doing at Rowhouse Fitness. The timing could not have been better. Just prior, I had experienced significant pain and weakness in my right hip replacement that was done 19 years ago. My request was simple………albeit lofty. I asked Theo if we could stabilize the hip joint so I could put off any revision until 2027. Theo was undaunted….the fact that I am pushing 74 didn’t deter him either. I have worked with him for the past several months as he patiently built a program of exercises that have made an incredible difference in strength and mobility primarily of the hips, but everything connected above and below. I now know for sure where my “glutes” are!!! Instead of experiencing a reality of being suddenly laid up, I am confident I can continue to row, ride bikes and horses, hike…..all the fun things…..and I can address the hip revision on my terms. Theo is a joy to work with and I strongly recommend Athlete’s Potential as a partner to help reach your performance goals. I am one grateful client!!!!
